Background/ Composition |
Rocket Science are a four-piece band (ed by work-horse bassist/vocalist Rob Higgins)that specializes in doing it all for the fans, wheeling out a kick-ass set of metallic smart-rock and had prize give-aways for the all-ages audience. A great combination of musicianship, songwriting and onstage personality. |
Achievement of Rock 'n' Roll Expectations
Grade: | 92 |
World Domination Status: Comment: There's a buzz brewin' about Rocket Science and
there's good reason. The band has gotten a lot tighter (as has the material) and
the songs are a little more concrete than they were during the band's earlier
shows. There's a lot of heart in what Rocket Science do and it's worn on
their sleeve.

Oral And Visual Communication
Eye Contact: | G | Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step: |
Pronounciation: | G | There's something very Fugazi or Propagandhi about the way Higgins and Co. do things, and the stage banter was all about geting the fans involved between songs, which broke things up nicely. They even had loads of audience members onstage during the last song. |

Musical Analysis
Level Of Participation: | E | Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step: |
Problem Solving: | E | Seemed that Higgins was heavily involved in organizing the entire all-ages event and so, a big thumbs up for giving the kids the chance to enjoy CMW. Rocket Science have some show-stoppers, including an oddly Beatlesque song called "Poisonous Gasses At Supermarkets," that features some great slide work. The band have a sound that doesn't seem trampled by others and the buzz should keep brewin'. They're heavy without being stupidly heavy and lyrically, the band avoid the easy way out and sound like they've actually put some thought into it. Duel guitars, slamming drums, grinding, gritty bass and howling vocals. What more do you want? |

Charisma: | E | Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step: |
Problem Solving: | E | Fashion isn't an issue for Rocket Science and the band stick to hammering it out. The band seem indie-rock at heart, but their sound is more over the top than your average band. Higgins has an everyman persona about him that is easily related to. A "Hey, I'm just a guy - let's rock" vibe that helps when inciting the audience to get involved. Fuck fashion - let's rock! |
